Freestyle Action

Freestyle skiing and snowboarding are becoming more and more popular in the Dolomites. Tre Cime already boasts several snowparks for freestylers of all ages – not only children and teenagers but also adults keen to test their skills on the daily groomed snow- and funparks in the Alta Pusteria region.

Complementing the family-friendly offering, the new Family Funslopes at Croda Rossa and Monte Elmo make Tre Cime a true family paradise, offering waves, tunnels, bridges, a snail-shaped turn and exciting steep curves. Dare to try new tricks and see if you can keep up with your kids!

The Kids Ski Cross course at Monte Baranci promises fun and action on a replica of the legendary Ski Cross World Cup course. Six curves, four kickers, and twelve waves offer kids and adults a thrilling challenge. You’ll find the course at the Untertal Lift, behind the Riese-Haunold Hut.

The small ski area of Rienza has become a magnet for visitors thanks to the Shaka Snowpark. Over 260 metres, you’ll find jumps, boxes and endless opportunities for snow action and fun.

Villages

The holiday villages in the Tre Cime ski area offer a wide variety of atmospheres. Discover sleepy villages with serene peace even during the peak season or enjoy lively ski days and après-ski fun in bustling San Candido.

San Candido is buzzing during winter. The colourful shops invite you to browse, while cafés and restaurants offer delicious food in good company. Stroll around the village, admire the historic church towers or take a winter walk through the snowy forests. After a day on the slopes, the smart ones head back into town for a lively après-ski session at one of the local bars.

Surrounded by majestic Dolomite peaks, Sesto is a wonderful winter destination. Accommodation here is top-quality and the village offers fantastic dining options. On the slopes and around the village, you’ll find plenty to keep you entertained. The famous Sesto Sundial – made up of the peaks Cima Nove, Cima Dieci (Croda Rossa di Sesto), Cima Undici, Cima Dodici and Cima Uno – forms the world's largest natural sundial.

South of the village lies the beautiful Lago di Dobbiaco, a favourite among Dolomite lovers. Nestled at the entrance to Val di Landro, it’s a year-round highlight. Cultural events like the Gustav Mahler Music Weeks and the Euregio Cultural Centre also enrich the town’s offer. In winter, Dobbiaco is a hotspot for skiing, ice skating, winter hiking, cross-country skiing and tobogganing.

Villabassa is a lovely holiday and spa village where you won’t find noisy pedestrian zones or overcrowded bars. At 1,154 metres above sea level, it’s the perfect peaceful winter escape between the Tre Cime Dolomites and Plan de Corones. Villabassa, considered the birthplace of tourism in Val Pusteria, also offers plenty of alternatives to skiing, surrounded by iconic Dolomite peaks.

The Lago di Braies is one of South Tyrol’s most photographed spots, nestled in the stunning Valle di Braies. In winter, you’ll find perfectly groomed cross-country trails and magical winter hiking routes offering a peaceful retreat from the busy pistes. The Tre Cime Dolomites and Plan de Corones ski areas are just a 15-minute drive away, making Braies the ideal spot for combining sport and relaxation.

Tre Cime Ski Resort

The Tre Cime Dolomites ski resort – Monte Elmo/Stiergarten/Croda Rossa/Passo Monte Croce – has pistes reaching up to 2,200 metres, the highest in the Tre Cime region.

In winter, the best way to reach the iconic peaks is with snowshoes. The hike requires some experience and good fitness.

The snowshoe hike to the Tre Cime starts in the Val Fiscalina near Sesto in Alta Pusteria. From the Rifugio Fondovalle at 1,548 metres, snowshoes are needed to continue.

The iconic Tre Cime di Lavaredo, recognised by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, can be approached via a beautiful winter hike. From Val di Dentro, past the Croda dei Toni, and up to the high valley beneath the Sasso di Sesto, you’ll reach the Rifugio Auronzo after around three and a half hours. As the hut is closed in winter, make sure to bring enough provisions and avalanche gear. This snowshoe hike is considered one of the most beautiful in the Dolomites.
