From Valles, you’ll find plenty of opportunities for winter hikes and cross-country skiing tours. A particularly charming destination is the Malga Fane, considered one of the most beautiful alpine hamlets in the region. Here, rustic mountain huts and breathtaking views of the surrounding peaks await you.

Maranza sits on a sunny plateau above the village of Rio di Pusteria. A visit to this charming little village is worthwhile not only for its peaceful atmosphere but also for the stunning views it offers over the Val Pusteria to the east and the Valle Isarco stretching out to the south. Spinga is a small mountain village with only around 300 inhabitants. The village gained significant historical importance due to the Spinga Clash in 1797. This battle took place during the Tyrolean Rebellion and gave rise to a heroine who is still revered in the region: Katharina Lanz, often referred to as the "Joan of Arc of Tyrol." With a pitchfork, the courageous farmer defended her homeland from the cemetery wall. Representations of Katharina Lanz can still be found in various places throughout Spinga today.

Rio di Pusteria, located at an altitude of 777 metres above sea level, is a historic village. The rich history of this early-established community is palpable in every corner of the old buildings in the village, situated at the entrance to the Val Pusteria. Elegant houses and stately family residences bear witness to the importance of the market town, which was founded in 1269. Located directly on the border between the counties of Gorizia and Tyrol, the Chiusa di Rio di Pusteria once housed a customs station.
